Well.. Bloody Hell

It's been so long since I updated my blog... So much happening at work that I can't really get the chance to update it.

Given that I can't get enough time to finish my traditional oil paints anymore, though I have been working with some digital works lately (given that it's what we do at my job).

Here's what I've been doing. (In order of when I made them)

My First Digital painting that I recognize as "Successful". Because before my job  I never ever did digital painting. But because of necessity of the current situation I am forced to learn and It wasn't that bad at all. I still prefer traditional though.

This one is the picture when I replaced by Graphire 4 tablet(R.I.P) to a Bamboo Pen & Touch, And by GOD! The pressure sensitivity is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy different compared to the graphire.
This one is based on the Sylvari of Guild Wars 2. I was just... Amazed on their concept, I thought that the concept for sylvari was like elves or something, but rather their concept was like (as I understand it) They are living moving plants! as if the plants evolved grew limbs and learned to talk. It's not that they talk to the trees fores or plants, They are the plants. And I was just amazed that.. It works, amazing.

This one is my digital painting based on Skyrim. I wanted to make the dragonborn a mage like figure but still menacing and faceless!

This is what I'm doing right now it's based on a pose from deviantart  (Forgot the name sorry). It's like she poses for drawing people.

So there we go an update. Finally got the time! and I shall try to update this bastard as much as I can, No promises!

Photo-realistic paintings

One thing that I have learned from self-studying as an artist is that you have a bit of 'you' in every piece that you do. Every piece that you create, every sketch that you draw. A piece of 'you' has to be in there, it's what makes artists unique. Though this doesn't necessarily apply in a piece that you created from work. The personal things the very raw, unhindered, unsupervised version of your piece has to have 'you' in there. It's what we do, in essence you create art in your own point of view.

This is why I don't get the photo-realistic pieces. I mean given the artists technical skills are amazing but in terms of composition. It looks too photo-realistic, PHOTO. One thing that I've realized over the years is that painting and the traditional art never was defeated by the camera for one reason. The photo is camera's point of view. It is totally different from an artists point of view, by mere numbers only it's a whole different thing. An artist has two eyes to see an object, the camera has one.

It's not that I hate the photo-realistic artists (I actually admire their skills) out there. But in my opinion, If I would want a photo-realistic painting, I would prefer getting a photo from a camera instead.

No offense. :D

Updates!

Updated that girl with red hair. Just needs a little more tweaking!

These are my new paintings that I just started today.

oh... Hi!

HA! Finally found the time to update my little excuse for blog. Since I'm always preoccupied about work and well I basically just get lazy to update my blog.  And since it's a long weekend here I have plenty of time to work on my paintings and a little practice on digital painting as well!

First off! Sketches from work. I could only do a few since sketching during work isn't really allowed.

Finally able to find the best position for my two lamps. Gave my painting area sufficient lighting now.

My Current Painting. Almost done, Realized that I shouldn't force myself to paint something that I don't even like painting. It ends up being erased and forgotten. Need a little more tweaking especially the hair and wee bit on the face.
